I am so proud of this team!
We had a great start going up 5:1 within the first 5 minutes, but then Dreams found their form and it was a very tight match up till the last quarter. There were runs of goals from both teams, and the lead alternated, but we went into the last quarter two goals up. A tired Dreams team (run ragged by our girls), and tactical changes from the bench resulted in a fourth quarter win (12:6) to take the final score to 48:40.
The girls kept their composure and considering we were playing with three second claim players and Maddie from u15’s, (so limited match play), the connections on court were excellent. We did make some errors and ball was lost, but what I loved was the fight to win the ball back.
The shooting combinations (from Amelia, Isobel and Annie) worked well and were serviced brilliantly from centre court players, Maddie, Imogen, and Kayleigh. Defensively, from the second quarter, the girls worked so hard to keep Dreams high and wide, well done Masie, Faith, Maddie and Kayleigh, it paid dividends in the last quarter as Dreams were tired. At the back Lottie did a great job in keeping the GS out of play, you stood your ground against her, confusing the space.
Congratulations to Faith and Annie for POM. With Faith, the sequence of three consecutive tips on the one attack sequence stands out, and for Annie her ‘Magnet hands’ for plucking ball from the air and shooting accuracy. Also congrats to Maisie for CPOM, given for your dogged defence, you took on board coaching tips, keeping your player ‘high and wide’, you made it very hard for a key Dreams player.
Well done all!
