What an incredible performance from the whole team!

This game was exciting from the offset with both teams wanting the win! We knew we would have to work hard and play good netball to secure this win as swan are always a well drilled and disciplined team. We know occasionally we take a couple of quarters to wake up- and we couldn't afford to do that- still sore from the victory snatched from us a few weeks back against blades- we were determined not to have that happen again and we planned to leave nothing to chance!

We talked about the need for discipline, getting the basics right and everyone needing to do there job. We intentionally took the long squad to ensure we had fresh legs and that everyone could commit to giving 110% on court as we always had positional cover. The girls absolutely stepped up and did not disappoint. They started strong and gave us a good lead at the end of the first quarter- a lead that we never lost- so I think as a bench our heart rates were relieved it wasn't as tight as the previous game!

It was so good to see the strength of the team, the fact we could and did make multiple changes each quarter and it never once impacted the game or score line with 4 very consistent quarters on the score board. The girls have worked hard this season and deserved the win- there was great defensive pressure again across the court- I counted at least 4 turnovers coming off of the shooters alone such was the determination to win every ball back!

Centre passes looked more disciplined and less chaotic with everyone being more clear of their role- and the same could be said of positioning on court with the attack trusting the defence to bring the ball down the court- leaving the attack end free to dominate the goal third- it meant space was easier to find and options more readily available!

It was a performance any team would be proud of- and it was so well earned! We spoke at the end about the fact fitness/fatigue started to creep in during quarter 4 even with our fresh legs that impacted some of our passing decisions and placement- but we will continue to focus on fitness and will only grow in this area!

It is great to have a team with so much positional cover and strength- I think it will lead to many more great success in the Hampshire league!

A great performance girls- well done!
