The girls did so well to settle into the game, as the score after the first quarter was three-all. To only give away two further goals for the rest of the match and to drive forward to a 24:5 victory was amazing. The score implies it was an easy game but it wasn’t, Ants were a strong aggressive team to play against and all credit to them, they continued to fight for it. Our defensive pressure from all in Jaguars and the accuracy of our shooters, I believe made the difference.
It was great to see the girls taking on advice, both as individuals and as a team. As I said earlier, the defensive pressure was great with arms up, which enabled others to pick up loose ball, there were some lovely clean interceptions taken. Also positioning on court and movement into space improved as the game went on. There were some outstanding passages of play down to our goal and our shooters were generally on point. If the shot was missed then more often than not they got the rebound. Also feeds into circle were timely and accurate. This was a great team effort, and the girls should be extremely proud of the way they played, well done all.
Congratulations to Niamh and Rose for their well- deserved POM’s. The GD was particularly strong against Rose, (it was a highly contested battle) and Niamh did a great job protecting our defensive third. Also well done to Amelie and Emille for CPOM. Given to Amelie for her shooting accuracy and timely movement in the circle, and to Emille for her positioning on court and movement into space.
