Another fantastic performance from the Jaguars team, who remain undefeated in the Hampshire County league!
This is the second time we have met Swan in the league and we know how well drilled they are. We talked before the game about the need for calm and composed play and about everyone doing their job on court- with arms over pressure from everyone!
The first quarter saw us take a solid lead with some very solid and accurate shooting from Amelie and Rose but we had struggled a little with getting the ball down the court and some interceptions as we were a little reliant on overhead passes- thankfully the turnovers never made it into the goal circle as the defensive duo of Niamh and Sophie helped us turn balls back over.
We discussed at the quarter time the need to make sure we always had someone coming forward onto the ball and the fact the whole team needed to put two arms over every ball to help us win balls!
We then saw the team improve quarter by quarter- although it also saw a strong swan fight back. The girls worked so hard as a team and challenged every ball- the defensive options were great and we managed to rotate everyone with a number of combinations- and in every option all of the team worked so hard and worked well. With Niamh out in GD we found her height a huge help in always helping us to bring the ball down the court- and she was always there as a back up reset at the transverse- helping us to reset and feed the circle well.
Tvisha played her first County game and covered C for us which I think she would agree was fun but exhausting- indoor netball is always so much faster and sweatier! India soldiered on and played for the team despite having her fingers heavily strapped- not that you would have noticed- it just meant she couldn't shoot today- so all pressure on Rose and Amelie- both rising to the occasion- Rose sinking a number of impressive long bombs that the Australian Super league would have been proud of!
Its always so lovely to see this team play, so hard to believe and remember their young ages when they are on court- they are a solid team and really pull together as a team - Emilie rallied the team every quarter reminding the girls of the need to win for Megan who was sad to miss the game through illness- as Emilie said- this win was for you Megan!
Oppositions POM was Rose and Niamh and coaches POM was also Niamh.
Well done girls- we go again next week against Blades- lets hope we keep our undefeated run against the tied top of the table team!
